A 7-year-old from Bentonville, Ark., went viral after she petitioned Old Navy to consider creating girls’ jeans with pockets that are not sewn shut.

Kamryn Gardner decided to write a letter to the retail giant after being inspired by a persuasive writing assignment she completed for school.

“Dear Old Navy,” she wrote in the letter. “I do not like that the front pockets of the girls jeans are fake. I want front pockets because I want to put my hands in them. I also would like to put things in them.

“Would you consider making girls jeans with front pockets that are not fake. Thank you for reading my request. Sincerely, Kamryn Gardner, age 7.”

Kamryn explained that the difference in her pant pockets compared to her brother’s encouraged her to pen the letter to Old Navy.

“I wrote to them because I would like a place to put my hands and a place to hold my stuff,” Kamryn, a first grader at Evening Star Elementary, told The Washington Post. “I want my pants to have real pockets like my brother’s pants.”

Old Navy eventually responded and sent Kamryn four pairs of jeans with pockets. Bentonville school district then shared both Kamryn’s letter and the retailer’s response in a Facebook post, which has since gone viral.

Oh, the power of persuasion especially when you’re adorable! Earlier this year, first graders at Evening Star Elementary…

“Kamryn, you proudly own those pockets! Kudos to Old Navy for making this first grader’s day and ours!,” the caption for the post read.

Hundreds of people celebrated Kamryn’s efforts and wrote encouraging comments under the post.

“I love this! Kamryn, always remember that your words can make a big difference,” one commenter wrote.

“I’m 56 and love front pockets! Not every girl lives w/ a purse at their side,” added another.

Old Navy spokeswoman Sandy Goldberg told the Post that the retailer does carry some girls’ pants with real pockets, but said that the company will keep Kamryn’s request in mind as they continue to develop new styles.

“Our design and product teams love hearing feedback from customers, especially young people like Kamryn, and we take suggestions into consideration as we work on future products,” Goldberg said.
