Biden attends first church service as president in DC, stops at local bagel shop

President Biden attended his first church service as president on Sunday in Washington, D.C.

Biden attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church in the Georgetown neighborhood of the nation’s capital on Sunday alongside several family members. He has worshipped at the church over the years and said Sunday’s service was “lovely.”

After the service, the president’s motorcade stopped at the popular Washington, D.C., deli Call Your Mother in Georgetown. Biden was joined by his son Hunter Biden and his granddaughters Finnegan Biden and Maisy Biden, according to a White House press pool report.

The deli called the president’s visit a “GREAT Sunday Surprise” on Twitter and shared that it is “thrilled to have an admin again who will love all that DC has to offer,” appearing to jab former President Trump, who rarely, if ever, patronized local Washington, D.C., restaurants.

It also confirmed that the first family ordered sesame bagels and cream cheese.

President Biden on the day of his inauguration last week attended church at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington, D.C. He was joined by Vice President Harris and a group of bipartisan lawmakers, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and incoming Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), among others.

Biden is the second Catholic to be elected president, after former President Kennedy.
