Jeb Bush congratulates Biden: It’s ‘time to heal deep wounds’

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) congratulated President-elect Joe Biden (D) on his projected victory of the 2020 election, saying, “It’s time to heal deep wounds.”

“Congratulations to President-elect Biden. I have prayed for our President most of my adult life. I will be praying for you and your success. Now is the time to heal deep wounds. Many are counting on you to lead the way,” Bush penned on Twitter Saturday.

Former presidential candidate Bush and President Trump sparred in numerous back-and-forth disagreements on the 2016 GOP debate stages. He said earlier this year he would not support the president’s reelection bid.

The brother of the 43rd president of the United States was echoed by Republican Sen. Mitt Romney (Utah), who extended congratulations to Biden on behalf of him and his wife.

“We pray that God may bless them in the days and years ahead,” said Romney in a tweet addressing Biden and Vice President-elect Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.)

World leaders such as Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also issued early congratulations to the president-elect Saturday, as Biden is slated to address the nation this evening after Pennsylvania and Nevada swung in his favor this morning.
