2 dead, 2 injured in Washington state shooting

At least two people were killed and two others injured in a Washington state shooting Saturday night.

Bellevue police responded to an apartment complex in the northeastern part of the city after receiving 911 calls at about 7:30 p.m. Bellevue Police Chief Steve Mylett described the calls as “frantic” with “a lot of chaos that could be heard in the background.”

Officers found one man dead in the third-floor lobby of the apartment building and another man critically injured, Mylett said, adding that the second man died at the scene despite first responders’ efforts to save him.

Another man found with life-threatening injuries was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and a woman with non-life-threatening injuries was taken to a local Bellevue hospital, the chief said.

Detectives said the violence did not appear to be random. Officials concluded there is “no ongoing danger to the community,” according to a Bellevue Police Department release

Mylett said the four victims appeared to be attending a house warming or different celebration when violence broke out. He said there were “shots fired” and “stabbing victims.”

“It appears all people involved in this knew each other or were familiar with each other,” Mylett said.

He said police are talking to several people “that were there inside the apartment itself.”
