Democratic House impeachment counsel to release book in July
A Democratic House counsel who helped draft the articles of impeachment against President Trump is publishing a new book about the impeachment probe.
Norm Eisen said Tuesday his book, “A Case for the American People: The United States V. Donald Trump,” will be released on July 28.
“When the Senate refused to convict Trump, I decided to take the case to you, the American people,” Eisen tweeted. “I will lay out ALL the abuse & obstruction of the past 3.5 years.”

Eisen served as counsel for Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee during the impeachment process last year. He also served as the ambassador to the Czech Republic under former President Obama.
The book will be published by Crown, which is calling it a “detailed behind-the-scenes account of the attempts to bring the President to justice,” according to The Associated Press.
The Democratic-controlled House impeached Trump at the end of last year on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress over his dealings with Ukraine and its leader, President Volodymyr Zelensky. Democrats alleged that Trump committed an impeachable offense by allegedly leveraging close to $400 million in military aid over Ukraine in exchange for political dirt on former Vice President Joe Biden, now the presumptive Democratic nominee for president.
Trump was later acquitted in the GOP-control Senate.
Eisen’s book “The Last Palace: Europe’s Turbulent Century in Five Lives and One Legendary House” was published by Crown in 2018.
