José Andrés, Clinton Foundation working to feed Arkansas public school students

Celebrity chef and activist José Andrés and the Clinton Foundation announced Monday that they would team up to feed children in Arkansas who are going without meals usually provided by public schools due to the coronavirus outbreak.

In a tweet, former President Clinton announced that the effort would feed students in the Little Rock and Pulaski County school districts, adding that he was “grateful” for Andrés’s aid.

“.@CityLittleRock,@WCKitchen, and other local partners have come together with our @ClintonCenter staff to feed @LRSD and @PCSSDschools students affected by the school closures in Central Arkansas. I’m grateful to everyone working on this effort,” Clinton tweeted, tagging World Central Kitchen, Andrés’s charity organization, in the tweet.

Mr. President proud to work with you again ‘elbow by elbow,'” the chef responded.

Numerous local officials have cited school meal services as a reason why they have been hesitant to order school closures amid the coronavirus outbreak. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) voiced similar concerns before finally announcing that schools would close in the city on Sunday.
