10 people test positive for coronavirus on quarantined cruise ship

Ten people aboard a quarantined cruise ship tested positive for coronavirus, Princess Cruises announced

The Diamond Princess had been held in Yokohama, Japan, as that country’s health officials performed screenings after a passenger disembarked in Hong Kong partway through the cruise and tested positive for the virus.

The newly confirmed cases include passengers from the U.S., Australia, Japan and Hong Kong, and one Filipino crew member, according to the cruise line.

The 10 people will be taken ashore by Japanese Coast Guard watercraft and transported to local hospitals for care.

The ship will remain under quarantine in Yokohama for at least 14 days.

Princess Cruises canceled an 8-day Diamond Princess trip that was set to depart Tuesday.
