Kansas City fireworks showed up on weather service radar after Chiefs Super Bowl win

The fireworks that erupted in Kansas City following the Chiefs’s Super Bowl win Sunday appeared on the National Weather Service’s radar.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Kansas City tweeted a gif showing the radar’s detection of fireworks shortly after the team’s first Super Bowl win in 50 years.

“Here’s #KansasCity erupting in celebration, as detected by our radar!” NWS tweeted Sunday night in a post that was retweeted 2,600 times as of Monday afternoon.

The fireworks were visible on the radar from 8:41 to 9:29 p.m. local time.

The Kansas City Chiefs topped the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 to win the NFL championship. The team will bring the Lombardi Trophy to Kansas City for a parade on Wednesday.
