Meghan McCain after confrontation with Whoopi Goldberg: ‘I won’t be quiet’
“The View” co-host Meghan McCain lashed out on Twitter this week after getting into a heated exchange with co-host Whoopi Goldberg while discussing President Trump’s impeachment inquiry.
“Dems and Rs alike need to confront the ugly truth: both parties are failing to be impartial jurors. I won’t be quiet, even if the reality reflects poorly on the entire political establishment. I have a responsibility to speak for the 50% that feels media doesn’t represent them,” McCain tweeted Monday.

The panel argued Monday about lawmakers’ treatment of the impeachment process, and as McCain, Goldberg and co-host Sunny Hostin all spoke at the same time, Goldberg told McCain “Girl, please stop talking” in a now-viral moment.

McCain continued speaking out on Twitter Monday, saying “Pointing out things that are true is part of my job even if it angers people and even if it’s politically inconvenient,” alongside an average of polls from RealClearPolitics showing that more voters called for Trump not to be removed from office than those who said he should be removed.

“Pretending half the country doesn’t exist won’t make them disappear. The culture war is real, and Americans who aren’t part of the overwhelmingly anti-conservative media deserve to have their views represented,” McCain said.

On Tuesday, McCain tweeted a gif from the show “Game of Thrones,” sharing with followers “Good morning – to all the fellow conservative ‘girls’ who won’t be quiet.”

On the Monday episode, Hostin argued that some senators who are currently serving were also in office during former President Clinton’s impeachment. She told the panel “I cannot believe that they would vote to impeach and convict a president, a sitting president, for perjuring himself and they would not vote to convict and remove a president who clearly wanted to use a foreign government for his own personal benefit to impede our very democracy. That is the height of hypocrisy for the Republican-led Senate.”
McCain then argued that her job is “not to litigate the ethics of” impeachment, saying that she is “an ABC political analyst” as well as being a “View” co-host.
“My job is to analyze the politics of it, and I’m telling you —” McCain said, as she and Hostin began to speak at the same time.
“Do you want to hear a conservative perspective on the show ever?” she continued, before Goldberg interjected.
“Girl, please stop talking. Please stop talking right now.”
“No problem. I won’t talk for the rest of the show,” McCain shot back, to which Goldberg responded: “I’m OK with that, if you’re going to behave like this.”
House Democrats have alleged that Trump pressured Ukraine to open political investigations while holding up millions in military aid to the country. Last week, Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee approved two articles of impeachment charging Trump with high crimes and misdemeanors, including abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
