White House spokesperson: Pelosi, Democrats ‘hate Trump’s success’
White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham addressed house Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) rebuke of a reporter’s question about whether she “hates” President Trump on Sunday, speculating that Pelosi “hates his success.”
“[S]he turned on him and said it was insulting to ask her that as a Catholic,” Fox News’ Howard Kurtz said, referencing Sinclair’s James Rosen, who asked the question. “Do you take her at her word when she says she doesn’t hate the president at all?”
{mosads}“I don’t know. I don’t know what she hates. I think she hates his success. I think the entire Democratic Party hate his success. I believe that and actually speaking of the Clinton impeachment, Nancy Pelosi told Republicans that they all hated Bill Clinton at that time,” Grisham said in response. “So, she’s had quite the evolution when it comes to impeachment and her thoughts on different things.”
Pelosi lashed out at the reporter during a press conference on Thursday following his question.
“I don’t hate anybody. I was raised in a Catholic house, we don’t hate anybody — not anybody in the world. So don’t you accuse me of any [hate],” Pelosi said Thursday at her weekly press briefing in response to the question.
“As a Catholic I resent you using the word ‘hate’ in a sentence that addresses me,” she continued. “I pray for the president all the time. So don’t mess with me when it comes to words like that.”
