Postal service issues new stamp to raise funds for veterans suffering from PTSD

A new stamp issued by the U.S. Postal Service honors American veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The stamp, issued Monday, will be used by the service to raise funds for organizations helping those with the disorder, which commonly affects combat veterans.

“The Postal Service is honored to issue this semipostal stamp as a powerful symbol of the healing process, growth and hope for tens of millions of Americans who experience PTSD,” David Williams, vice chairman of the U.S. Postal Service board, told ABC News.

With the stamp’s release, “the nation renews its commitment to raise funds to help treat soldiers, veterans, first responders, health care providers and other individuals dealing with this condition,” he added.

Further details about the Postal Service’s donations to veterans’ organizations were not immediately available.
