Trump’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star vandalized with spray paint

President Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been vandalized again.

Footage released by TMZ on Wednesday shows an unidentified woman vandalizing the marker with white spray paint during the day. TMZ reports that the video was taken on Tuesday morning.

{mosads}After several seconds of spraying, the video shows the woman walking away as a number of people continue to pass by on the street, seemingly unfazed. A photo captured by TMZ of the final result shows Trump’s name on the star blotted out almost entirely with white paint.

The incident is just the latest in a string of vandalism attacks targeting the star since Trump announced his run for office.

In July 2018, a man smashed the star to rubble with a pickax. Another man also used a used a pickaxe and sledgehammer to vandalize the star prior to the 2016 election.

The star again captured headlines in August 2018 after street artist Plastic Jesus placed prison bars on the marker. Though he told HuffPost at the time that his “protest art was intended to be humorous,” he also said Trump should “pay the price” if he is ever found guilty of a crime.

Around that time, the West Hollywood City Council approved a proposal urging the Los Angeles City Council and Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to remove Trump’s star from the Walk of Fame.

However, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has long said that it would never remove stars from the Walk of Fame.

In a statement to The Hill on Wednesday, Rana Ghadban, the president and CEO of the Chamber, called the Hollywood Walk of Fame an “institution celebrating the positive contributions of the inductees.”

“When people are unhappy with one of our honorees, we would hope that they would project their anger in more positive ways than to vandalize a California State landmark,” she said. “Our democracy is based on respect for the law. People can make a difference by voting and not destroying public property.”

Ghadban said the Chamber has been in touch with the police regarding the latest vandalism incident, and added that the group plans to prosecute to the full extent of the law.

The Chamber said Hollywood Historic Trust is working with Clean Streets to restore the marker.
