Scarborough knocks GOP senator for Pelosi remark: He ‘degraded himself’

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough on Thursday sharply criticized Sen. John Kennedy after the Louisiana Republican called Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) “dumb” at a rally the previous night.

Kennedy, during the rally headlined by President Trump in support of gubernatorial candidate Eddie Rispone (R), referenced Pelosi proceeding with the House impeachment inquiry, saying, “I don’t mean any disrespect, but it must suck to be that dumb.”

{mosads}Scarborough, a former GOP congressman and vocal Trump critic, ripped into the comment on Thursday, asserting that the senator “actually does mean disrespect and he has degraded himself.”

“I just wonder how low these people are going to go … how much they’re going to degrade themselves,” Scarborough said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

The MSNBC host argued that the remark would be a defining moment for Kennedy, who has come out to defend Trump amid the mounting impeachment investigation in the House focused on the president’s dealings with Ukraine.

“By the way, senator, guess what? No matter what you do for the rest of your life, that’s your moment,” Scarborough said, adding “you did it for a man who committed crimes.”

Scarborough himself recently caught flak after he criticized attendees at a World Series game who had gone after the president by chanting “lock him up” at him. Trump was in attendance at the game.

The MSNBC host said that Americans “do not do that” and called it “un-American.” Social media users later defended the attendees’ behavior, with “Sorry Joe” later trending on Twitter.
