Arrest made in death of witness in Amber Guyger trial

A man has been arrested and two other suspects have been identified in connection with the murder of Joshua Brown after he testified in the murder trial of former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger.

Dallas Police Department Assistant Chief of Police Avery Moore said at a Tuesday news conference that Jacquerious Mitchell, 20, had been arrested and that Michael Mitchell, 32, and Thaddeous Green, 22, were wanted.

Moore said that Jacquerious Mitchell told police that all three men came from Louisiana to purchase drugs from Brown. He added that officers were told Green shot Brown 2 times.

He said that police had issued warrants for capital murder against all three men.

Brown testified during Guyger’s trial, after which she was sentenced to 10 years for shooting and killing her neighbor Botham Jean in his apartment.

Brown testified during the trial that he met Jean on Sept. 6, 2018, the day he was shot. He said that he heard the voices of two people who sounded as if they were meeting by “surprise” before hearing gunshots.

He said that he saw Guyger leave the apartment and that she was on the phone and “crying, explaining what happened, what she thought happened, saying she came in to the wrong apartment,” according to CNN.

Officers reportedly found Brown on the ground late Friday with multiple gunshot wounds.
