Leonardo DiCaprio took aim at President Trump and other world leaders while calling for climate action over the weekend.

While discussing the Paris climate accord, which President Trump announced a withdrawal from two years ago, the actor said that “it’s become clear that our political leaders have failed to live up to the promises that we celebrated that day,” according to Yahoo News

“Our future is being gambled away, and our leaders, those whom we entrust to protect us and set the example, are either failing to stop these dangerous trends or, in some cases, denying the very science of this climate catastrophe,” he added at the Global Citizen Festival in New York.

{mosads}Trump said shortly after taking office in 2017 that he would be taking the U.S. out of the Obama-era climate agreement. However, he cannot officially remove the country from the pact until next year — a move House Democrats are already trying to block.

“Unless you live in an alternate reality, there’s no more time for denial,” DiCaprio, who has long advocated for climate action, went on to say at the music festival.

“A carbon-neutral future is the only way we will inherit a planet capable of sustaining life on earth as we know it,” he continued.

DiCaprio also heaped praise on Greta Thunberg after the Swedish teen activist’s impassioned plea to world leaders on climate change, and knocked some individuals who he said “have reacted to this movement with insulting tweets and negative talking points.”

“Individuals that seem to care more about profit and their own self-interest than about your future,” the Oscar-winner added.

His comments were made days after Trump came under fire for a tweet he shared that appeared to mock Thunberg.
