The House Republican campaign arm is pitching T-shirts promoting President Trump’s effort to buy Greenland that feature a map of the United States showing the territory as part of America, the entirety of which is colored in with red, white and blue.
The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) offered the shirts as part of a promotion for donors who contributed at least $25.
“Support President Trump and his efforts to help America grow!” the caption in the promotional offer read.
Trump confirmed this week reports that he is interested in buying the world’s largest island, an autonomous territory of Denmark.{mosads}
The president has in recent days continued to engage in a public spat with Denmark’s prime minister after she rebuffed his interest in buying the island.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen called the idea “absurd,” which prompted Trump to fire back, calling her rejection “nasty” and “inappropriate.”
“She’s not talking to me. She’s talking to the United States of America. You don’t talk to the United States that way,” Trump told reporters Wednesday.
He also tweeted that he was canceling his planned state visit to Denmark next month over the dispute.
The NRCC is not the only GOP group to latch onto the idea of buying Greenland. The Nevada Republican Party also advertised Greenland-themed merchandise on its website this week.
One T-shirt featured “Greenland!” on the front with the caption underneath it reading, “This land is your land, this land is our land!”
The back of the shirt is complete with cartoon depictions of America and Greenland giving each other a high-five.
