Dayton, Ohio, mayor says she’ll tell Trump ‘how unhelpful’ he’s been

Dayton, Ohio, Mayor Nan Whaley (D) said Tuesday that she would tell President Trump “how unhelpful” he has been when he visits the city after the mass shooting there that left nine people dead.

“Yesterday, his comments weren’t very helpful to the issue around guns,” she said at a press conference.

Whaley also said the federal government is “absolutely not” doing enough on gun reform.

{mosads}“What do you see in D.C.? You see a lot of nothing happening on a lot of stuff and common sense gun reform is definitely an example where nothing’s happened,” she said.

Her comments follow statements by Trump in which he expressed support for “red flag” laws that would allow law enforcement to take weapons from possibly dangerous individuals.

The Dayton shooting came a day after another mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, in which 22 people were killed.
