Ocasio-Cortez responds to being featured in ‘enemies of freedom’ video at baseball game

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) responded to her face being featured among foreign dictators in an “enemies of freedom” section of a Memorial Day video that aired at a minor league baseball game.

In a post on Twitter Tuesday, Ocasio-Cortez said she receives a “flood of death threats” when organizations promote hateful messages regarding her.

{mosads}“What people don’t (maybe do) realize is when orgs air these hateful messages, my life changes bc of the flood of death threats they inspire,” the freshman lawmaker wrote.

“I‘ve had mornings where I wake up & the 1st thing I do w/ my coffee is review photos of the men (it’s always men) who want to kill me,” she added.

Minor league baseball team the Fresno Grizzlies, the AAA affiliate of the Washington Nationals, featured a video at a game on Memorial Day that featured an image of Ocasio-Cortez in between shots of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and former Cuban leader Fidel Castro.

The late former President Reagan talks about “enemies of freedom” as the images appear. The team has since apologized for the video, saying it was not created in-house.

This is the second similar incident for Ocasio-Cortez in her short time in Congress.

Last month an Ohio chapter of the College Republicans referred to her as a “domestic terrorist” in a fundraising email.

Ocasio-Cortez said at the time that such rhetoric puts her “in danger every time” and she receives an increase in death threats.

Ocasio-Cortez and her staff have reportedly been trained by U.S. Capitol Police on performing risk assessments due to the number of death threats she receives.
