ATF seizes more than 1,000 firearms at Los Angeles mansion

Federal agents seized more than 1,000 firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition from a Los Angeles home early Wednesday morning after an anonymous tip.

The Los Angeles Police Department and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) served a warrant at about 4 a.m. to a mansion near Sunset Boulevard, CBS Los Angeles reported.

{mosads}Girard Damien Saenz, 56, was arrested and is expected to be charged with possessing, selling and manufacturing assault weapons, according to the LAPD.

Helicopter footage showed agents organizing the cache of more than 1,000 firearms removed from the home, laid out along the driveway.

Officials told ABC 7 out of Los Angeles that the weapons were found cluttered all around the home.

The weapons ranged in various makes and models, including assault weapons, rifles, shotguns and handguns, according to the outlet.

There were even a few collectibles dating back to the Civil War.

“I had never seen so many weapons in my career of 31 years,” LAPD Lt. Chris Ramirez told ABC 7. “That’s such a big arsenal in a residence like this, in this type of neighborhood. It’s astounding.”

The home, located on North Beverly Glen Boulevard, is located in the wealthy neighborhood of Holmby Hills that is best known for being the location of the Playboy Mansion, ABC 7 reported.

Rabbi Chaim Mentz, a nearby neighbor, told the outlet that he was stunned by the discovery.

“I would never, ever think anybody would be wanting to pack so much in this neighborhood. It scares the wits out of you,” Mentz said. “What does my next door neighbor have? What does your next door neighbor have?”
