Ex-Texas tennis coach expected to plead guilty in admissions case

Former University of Texas at Austin men’s tennis coach Michael Center is expected to plead guilty in the college admissions bribery scandal, The Associated Press reported Wednesday.

Center was one of the dozens of coaches, parents and consultants charged in what officials have called the “largest college admissions scam ever prosecuted by the Department of Justice.”

{mosads}The former tennis coach was charged with accepting $100,000 to help a student get admitted to the school despite not playing the sport. Authorities say $60,000 was given to Center in cash in a hotel parking lot.

He will reportedly plead guilty to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud, per AP.

Fourteen parents, including former “Desperate Housewives” star Felicity Huffman, have agreed to plead guilty.

Former coaches at Yale and Stanford have already pleaded guilty.
