Brennan: Imagine if we had a president ‘who did not have to obstruct justice’

Former CIA Director John Brennan blasted President Trump on Twitter on Tuesday, wishing for a president “who did not have to obstruct justice to survive politically.”

“Just imagine if we had a President who did not live in constant fear of being exposed as a fraud, who did not have to obstruct justice to survive politically, and who had the intelligence, integrity, and leadership skills to address America’s many important challenges,” wrote Brennan, who ran the CIA under former President Obama.

{mosads}The tweet comes after special counsel Robert Mueller issued a report that said he found no evidence that the Trump campaign coordinated with Russia to interfere in the 2016 presidential election.

However, the report, which was released in redacted form by the Justice Department last week, said the special counsel could not determine whether Trump obstructed justice.

Attorney General William Barr made the conclusion that the report did not provide enough evidence of obstruction of justice to prosecute. But some Democratic House members and 2020 presidential contenders have called for the start of impeachment proceedings against Trump.

Brennan’s tweet comes after he admitted that he had “suspected there was more than there actually was” from the report after Barr issued a four-page summary ahead of the release.

“I don’t know if I received bad information, but I think I suspected there was more than there actually was,” he said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” last month after the summary was released. “I am relieved that it’s been determined there was not a criminal conspiracy with the Russian government over our election.”

Trump has strongly denied he obstructed justice and blasted the report as a partisan attack.
