Harris’s stepkids call her ‘Momala’
Sen. Kamala Harris’s (D-Calif.) two stepkids have a nickname for her that should help anyone struggling to pronounce the 2020 presidential candidate’s first name.
Cole and Ella Emhoff call Harris “Momala,” according to CNN.
The nickname, which rhymes with Kamala, has long had a shoutout in Harris’s Twitter bio, but was highlighted in a CNN profile on the six men (and counting) who could become the country’s first “first gentleman.”
Harris married her husband, lawyer Douglas Emhoff, in 2014, who had two children from his previous marriage. The two met on a blind date, according to CNN.
Happy Birthday @KamalaHarris! You are always there for us with a big hug, bright smile, infectious laugh and just the right words, all with delicious food and an amazing soundtrack! We love you so so much (and are VERY proud of you)! Doug, Cole & Ella. pic.twitter.com/7evystcTz1

{mosads}CNN also shared the meet-cutes and fun facts of the husbands of high-profile Democrats running for the White House, including: Bruce Mann, who is married to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Mass); John Bessler, who is Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s (Minn.) husband; Jonathan Gillibrand, the spouse of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.); Abraham Williams, who is married to Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (Hawaii); and Chasten Buttigieg, the husband of South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
Chasten Buttigieg, CNN noted, would make history in a number of ways if his husband is elected president: first first gentleman, first same-sex presidential spouse and, at 29, the youngest partner of anyone currently running for president.
