Cindy McCain tweets violent message from ‘kind and loving’ critic of her husband

Cindy McCain, the wife of former Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), tweeted a screenshot of a violent message Tuesday that she says came from a stranger criticizing her late husband’s political career.

McCain said Tuesday afternoon that she was revealing the content of the profanity-laden message and the name of the person who sent it in the hopes that their friends and family “could see” what had been written.

{mosads}The message, which appeared to have been sent over Facebook, refers to the late senator as a “traitorous warmongering shit” and goes on to express a desire for McCain’s daughter, “The View” co-host Meghan McCain, to choke to death.

“I want to make sure all of you could see how kind and loving a stranger can be,” Cindy McCain wrote in her tweet, adding that she was posting the note so the person’s “family and friends could see.”

McCain’s family has responded in recent days to criticism of the late senator after President Trump, who long feuded with the Arizona GOP senator, renewed his attacks on him. John McCain died last year of brain cancer.

Trump said over the weekend that he was never a “fan” of the Arizona Republican and renewed his criticism of the former senator for his key vote credited with sinking an effort to repeal ObamaCare.

“He campaigned on repealing and replacing ObamaCare for years and then he got to a vote and he said ‘thumbs down,’” Trump said of McCain during a joint press conference with Brazil’s president on Tuesday. “I think that’s disgraceful. Plus there are other things.”

The comments, along with tweets Trump issued calling the vote a “stain” on McCain’s legacy, prompted a response from the senator’s daughter on “The View.”

“He spends his weekend obsessing over great men because he knows it, and I know it and all of you know it — he will never be a great man,” Meghan McCain said on Monday’s broadcast.

“My father was his kryptonite in life. He’s his kryptonite in death,” she added.
