New York City bar disciplines employee who kicked out man wearing MAGA hat
A bar in New York City said Saturday that it disciplined an employee who refused to serve a man wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat.
“We do fully acknowledge that one of our employees took it upon himself to wrongly promote his political views. We can assure everyone that this employee has been disciplined and will be retrained before being allowed to serve at Jake’s Dilemma,” the bar said in a statement on its Facebook page.
{mosads}In video published by NBC 4, the man in the hat, Don Cini, can be heard asking whether the bartender was refusing to serving him because of his hat.
The bartender then nodded and gave a thumbs-up.
According to NBC 4, the bartender also asked Cini to leave before he finished his meal. Cini had reportedly been served by a different bartender, but after the new bartender started his shift, Cini was refused further service and urged to leave.
Cini is the same man who has been kicked out of Disneyland and Disney World several times for displaying Trump campaign signs at the parks.
The owner of Jake’s Dilemma told NBC 4 that in addition to wearing the “Make America Great Again” hat, Cini made anti-Semitic remarks and was being loud.
Cini denied those claims and told NBC 4 that he would continue wearing his hat.
“I’m an American and a lot of people tell me to get out, I don’t belong here, they do it to me every day. I call it, ‘Resist the resisters,'” he said.
