Clinton hits EPA for approval of pesticide dump: ‘We need bees!’

Former Secretary of State and 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton ripped the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) approval of a pesticide that is considered toxic to bees.

A government report published this month revealed that the EPA granted “emergency exemptions” for various pesticides, including sulfoxaflor, to be used in 2018. The EPA authorized the use of sulfoxaflor on millions of acres of grain and cotton across 18 states.

{mosads}The Center for Biological Diversity slammed the decision, saying the pesticide was “very hghly toxic” to bees.

“Spraying 16 million acres of bee-attractive crops with a bee-killing pesticide in a time of global insect decline is beyond the pale, even for the Trump administration,” said Nathan Donley, a senior scientist with the Center for Biological Diversity. “The EPA is routinely misusing the ‘emergency’ process to get sulfoxaflor approved because it’s too toxic to make it through normal pesticide reviews.”

Since her defeat in 2016, Clinton has kept a relatively low profile, but she has occasionally turned to social media to criticize President Trump, often focusing on the president’s alleged ties to Russia.

Clinton also has not yet ruled out another bid for the White House in 2020.
