Far-right activists arrested for trespassing at California governor’s mansion

Far-right activists Laura Loomer and Ben Bergquam were arrested in California on Wednesday for trespassing on the grounds of the governor’s mansion in protest.

Loomer and Bergquam were reportedly protesting California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) stance on immigration, according to the Sacramento Bee.

{mosads}The two livestreamed the protest, in which they wore ponchos and sombreros, and their subsequent arrest. 

The two reportedly scaled the fence of the mansion and had what they called a “fiesta” on the lawn. The two were cited and released hours later.

“Today I proved that Gavin Newsom, the Governor of California who is also Nancy Pelosi’s nephew, cares more about illegals than Americans,” Loomer wrote afterward on Facebook. “I was arrested for hopping his fence and having a fiesta on his lawn.”

Newsom has supported offering humanitarian aid for asylum seekers.

Loomer has has interrupted multiple political events around Washington, D.C. in protest and, late last year, handcuffed herself to Twitter’s headquarters in New York City to protest what she alleged was a bias against conservatives on the platform.

Loomer drew criticism for wearing a yellow Jewish star to protest her Twitter account being deleted.
