Ohio, Washington reps make Rose Bowl wager
Reps. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) and Derek Kilmer (D-Wash.) announced Monday that they have made a “friendly wager” on the outcome of New Year’s Day’s Rose Bowl between Ohio State and the University of Washington.
If Ohio State wins, Kilmer plans to give Ryan candy apples, Almond Roca and smoked salmon. If Washington wins, Ryan will give Kilmer chocolates and gourmet popcorn.
{mosads}Washington and Ohio State will meet in Pasadena, Calif., for the Jan. 1 Rose Bowl, which traditionally features the winners of the Pac-12 and Big Ten conferences.
Ryan said in a statement that he has “no doubt” Ohio State will win.
“I have no doubt that we will see The Ohio State Buckeyes claim victory over the Washington Huskies in the 2019 Rose Bowl. … We will be starting the New Year with a ‘W’ and some Washington candy apples, Almond Rica, and smoked salmon to top it all off,” he said.
Kilmer said the “forecast” for the game is “calling for Purple Reign.”
“I’m looking forward to eating some buckeyes after the Huskies beat Ohio State. Go Dawgs,” he said.
Placed a bet with @RepDerekKilmer (WA) on the @OhioStateFB–@UW_Football Rose Bowl game. I know the Buckeyes will come out with the “W” and I’ll be enjoying some good food from WA. If they don’t (unlikely), we’ll be delivering food from @GorantChoc and @metropolisohio. O-H! pic.twitter.com/wRrvqbjQmD
