‘Fearless Girl’ statue on Wall Street removed from spot in front of ‘Charging Bull’

The iconic “Fearless Girl” statue standing defiantly in front of Wall Street’s “Charging Bull” statue has been removed and is being relocated.

The Associated Press reports that the statue was moved Tuesday night and that no date has been set for when the statue will appear at its new home in front of the New York Stock Exchange.

{mosads}Two footsteps are now in the place where the statue used to be, allowing passerby to stand in the exact spot.

“Fearless Girl is on the move to The New York Stock Exchange,” a plaque in the statue’s place read. “Until she’s there, stand for her.”

The young girl standing with her hands on her hips directly in front of the bull was installed in March 2017 as a symbol to encourage corporations to place more women in leadership positions. The statue was considered controversial at the time, as the “Charging Bull” artist challenged the juxtaposition of his work with the new art, calling it political advertising.

New York City officials said the 11-foot-tall bull statue, which was first installed in 1989, is also set to be moved closer to the stock exchange. The move was first announced in April.

The bull and bronze girl statues have become tourist attractions with throngs of people stopping for pictures.

City officials said the crowds had become a traffic hazard, prompting the move.
