Kasich: Trump’s conduct ‘part of the reason why I didn’t endorse him’

Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) said Monday that President Trump’s conduct is partly why he didn’t endorse the real estate mogul in 2016.

“I was very, very strong about my feeling about how the president has conducted himself,” Kasich said on MSNBC. “It’s part of the reason why I didn’t endorse him.”

{mosads}Kasich was responding to comments made earlier in the day by former Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson, who said on CNN that elected officials need to “restore civility” after a week that included a mass shooting at a synagogue in Pittsburgh and explosive devices being addressed to numerous prominent Democrats.

Johnson said Trump “has the largest bullhorn” and that it’s up to the president to “set the tone” and “set the mood in our nation.”

Trump on Monday blamed the media for violence in the United States, saying “there is great anger in our Country caused in part by inaccurate, and even fraudulent, reporting of the news.”

“The Fake News Media, the true Enemy of the People, must stop the open & obvious hostility & report the news accurately & fairly. That will do much to put out the flame of Anger and Outrage and we will then be able to bring all sides together in Peace and Harmony. Fake News Must End!” he tweeted.
