Donald Trump Jr. on Thursday slammed former Attorney General Eric Holder for comments he made suggesting Democrats should be “kick” Republicans when they “go low.”

“This is the party of ‘tolerance,'” Trump tweeted. “The leftists have really lost touch.”

{mosads}”They have no platform other than hate and they can’t stand that @realDonaldTrump is winning and showing Americans how bad their liberal policies have been for America,” Trump Jr. said.

“Even the media can’t fix it for them!”

Trump was responding to remarks Holder made at a campaign event Sunday.

“Michelle [Obama] always says that, you know, ‘When they go low, we go high.’ No. When they go low, we kick them,” Holder said, referring to Republicans, in a video that surfaced Wednesday. “That’s what this new Democratic Party is about.”

He clarified later in his speech that “kick them” doesn’t refer to doing anything inappropriate or illegal.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made similar remarks in a CNN interview Tuesday when she said, “You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for.”

Some on the left have criticized the comments from Holder and Clinton.

Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.), who’s up for reelection in a state Trump won by double digits in 2016, called Clinton’s statements “ridiculous,” while former first lady Michelle Obama pushed back on against Holder’s remarks.

“Do you want them afraid of their neighbors? Do you want them angry? Do you want them vengeful?” she asked.

Some GOP lawmakers have seized on recent remarks by Democrats, saying they may lead to violence.

“There is going to be an assassination if this doesn’t ratchet down, and I think the other side needs to really calm the rhetoric down,’ Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said in an interview Wednesday on Fox News.

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), who was wounded by gunfire last year at a practice session for the annual Congressional Baseball Game, called Holder’s statements a “direct threat to our democracy” in an op-ed Wednesday.
