Women’s group projects ‘Kavanaugh is a sexual predator’ on courthouse

A group that advocates against sexism on Tuesday night projected messages condemning Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh onto the courthouse where he currently serves as a judge.

The group, UltraViolet, projected messages that read “Kavanaugh is a sexual predator and well documented liar” onto the building where the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit resides.

Other messages projected included “He lied every time he testified,” and “Kavanaugh must withdraw.”

The PR firm working for the group said in an email that the initial plan was to project the messages on the Supreme Court building. But after plans were leaked to the media, the group elected to hold the demonstration at a different location.

The move from UltraViolet comes only weeks after it projected an image onto the Supreme Court of Kavanaugh along with the message “Roe v. Wade is more popular than Brett Kavanaugh,” referring to the historic ruling that legalized abortion nationwide.

Kavanaugh, President Trump‘s Supreme Court nominee, is facing increased scrutiny over sexual assault allegations against him.

The New Yorker published a report on Sunday in which a woman, Deborah Ramirez, accused Kavanaugh of exposing himself in front of her during a party at Yale in the 1980s.

The report came just a week after Christine Blasey Ford came forward publicly to describe an alleged sexual assault by the Supreme Court nominee while the two were in high school.

Kavanaugh has denied the accusations. He stated that the latest allegation against him was a “smear” in a statement earlier this week.

Ford and Kavanaugh are scheduled to testify regarding her accusation on Thursday. The White House has said that it is open to having Kavanaugh’s second accuser, Ramirez, testify as well.
