NFL player helps deliver meals to first responders of Florida mass shooting

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles helped deliver meals to first responders of a recent mass shooting in Jacksonville, Fla., this week. 

Through the Blake Bortles Foundation, Bortles provided free meals for everyone who responded to the shooting at a video game tournament at Jacksonville Landing on Sunday. 

“Thank you for everything that you do! Your service today and every day is greatly appreciated,” Bortles said in a letter to first responders, according to an image posted on Twitter by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.{mosads}

Schefter added that Bortles had paid for meals for “everyone on scene at Jacksonville Landing.”

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office thanked Bortles for the gesture, tweeting that it was “appreciative” of the kindness.

The act came after a mass shooting at a “Madden NFL 19” tournament in Jacksonville left three dead, including the shooter, and several injured.

The suspect in the shooting, a 24-year-old white male, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the sheriff’s office said.
