Rep. Blunt Interested in Bond’s Senate Seat

Former House Republican Whip Roy Blunt (Mo.) is interested in running for Sen. Kit Bond’s (R) seat in 2010, according to Missouri sources who spoke to The Corner.

Blunt left his House leadership post after last year’s election, but his name still carries weight back home. He has served in the House for 12 years and his son, Matt, is Missouri’s outgoing governor.

Bond said Thursday that he wouldn’t seek a fifth term.

Other possible candidates for the Senate seat include former Rep. Kenny Hulshof (R), Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder (R) and Secretary of State Robin Carnahan (D).
