McConnell Names GOP Team on Healthcare
As the Senate considers President-elect Obama’s nominee of former Sen. Tom Daschle (D-S.D.) to head the Department of Health and Human Services and healthcare reform efforts, Senate Republicans have named their team to provide their own solutions on healthcare reform.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) named a four-man team consisting of Sens. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), and Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) to head up GOP efforts on healthcare.
Daschle has been nominated to head not only the cabinet-level agency, but also a White House position tasked with leading the effort on healthcare reform. Senate committees are currently conducting hearings into his appointment.
