George H.W. Bush discharged from hospital

Former President George H.W. Bush was released from the hospital on Monday after being there a week receiving treatment for low blood pressure, according to his spokesman.

“The president is deeply appreciative both for the terrific care and the many good wishes he has received,” said Jim McGrath.

Bush, 93, was hospitalized in Maine on Sunday, May 27, just a few days after he arrived at his summer home in Kennebunkport.

While in the hospital, Bush tweeted a photo of himself reading a book about his marriage to his late wife, former first lady Barbara Bush, who died in April.

“Yet another reminder of just how lucky I have been in life,” Bush tweeted.

Bush has been hospitalized twice in recent weeks.

He was taken to a Houston hospital on April 22 for a blood infection and released after a two-week stay. That visit came two weeks after his wife’s funeral.
