Dwyane Wade donating $200K to anti-gun violence march fundraiser

Dwyane Wade said he is donating $200,000 to the “March for Our Lives” fundraiser to support the anti-gun violence rally.

The Miami Heat star said in a series of tweets that he is donating $200,000 on behalf of Chicago.

“Spoke to my brother @carmeloanthony & we’re standing w/ students from [Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School]. We both come from communities where gun violence is an every day occurence,” he tweeted.

“Enough is Enough! On March 24th, students across the country will be in DC and in their local cities to #MarchForOurLives.”

Wade also said the students “need our help.”

“I’m asking my NBA fam to join us in raising money to send kids from underserved communities to March,” he said.

{mosads}The fundraising page Wade tweeted out says half of the funds will go toward the March for Our Lives Action Fund, which will help to cover expenses associated with the Washington, D.C., march scheduled for later this month.

The other half will be used to give financial support to the victims of last month’s mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in South Florida.

Wade also dedicated an art exhibit in Miami this past weekend to the victims of the mass shooting.

Since the shooting, students have become vocal advocates for gun control, demanding that lawmakers take action to keep their schools safe.

Students have planned rallies and walkouts as they continue to call for new gun laws.
