Poll: tax cuts would help economy

A substantial majority of Americans believe that tax cuts would promote economic growth, a new Rasmussen poll finds. 63% believe lower taxes would help, the highest level of support since Rasmussen has begun asking the question in the mid-nineties. That number also represents a 7% increase from last month’s poll. 13% say tax cuts would hurt the economy.

Separate Rasmussen polls contained mixed news for the Preisdent’s agenda. Two-thirds of those polled believe Obama plans to raise taxes on those making less than $250,000, which the President has pledged not to do.

Finally, the public is split over whether Obama’s budget will help the economy. 42% say it will, while 43% say it will hurt economic recovery.

All of the polls have a margin of error of +/- 3%.
