BREAKING: Vermont legislature overrides gay-marriage veto

The Vermont legislature has voted to override the veto of Gov. Jim Douglas (R-VT) and legalize gay marriage in the state. The state senate voted 23-5 to override the veto this morning, followed by a 100-49 vote by the House.

The House barely succeeded in garnering the 2/3 majority necessary to override. The vote comes just days after the Iowa Supreme Court effectively legalized gay marriage in that state as well.
