Attorney General Micheal Mukasey e-mailed all Department of Justice (DoJ) employees this morning to announce he will return to work this afternoon following his on-stage collapse last night during a speech to the Federalist Society’s annual dinner.
Mukasey said he feels fine after spending the night at George Washington University Hospital.
“All tests at the hospital have come back with good results, and I feel fine,” Mukasey wrote to the department’s employees. DoJ confirmed the e-mail’s contents to The Hill.
Mukasey was caught by several men on stage last night at a northwest Washington hotel after he began to slur his speech and fell backward. He was reportedly rushed to George Washington University hospital, where he was “in good spirits” by midnight, according to a spokesman.
Mukasey sent the following e-mail to all DoJ employees at 11:20 a.m. today:
Dear Colleagues,
As you may have heard, I collapsed briefly last night at the conclusion of a speech.
