POLL: Bad news for Burr
A new poll shows Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) trailing one of his potential Democratic opponents, Attorney General Roy Cooper.
The survey, by Public Policy Polling, shows Cooper leading Burr 41%-37% in a hypothetical matchup. Last month, PPP found Cooper leading by a similar margin, 39%-34%.
Most troubling for Burr is his low approval rating in the poll. Just 35% of respondents approve of the job he’s doing, with 31% disapproving. By contrast, 41% hold a postive view of Cooper, with 20% holding a negative view.
Cooper said recently that he will decide “very soon” whether to jump in the race.
Burr would fare better against Democratic Congressman Mike McIntyre, leading him 39%-34%.
