Kaine: Flynn will get ‘fair legal process’ he tried to deny Clinton

Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) ripped Micheal Flynn on Friday, after the former national security adviser was charged with lying to the FBI in the special counsel’s Russia probe.

Kaine, who was Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s 2016 running mate, was asked about an incident where Flynn joined the crowd at the Republican National Convention in a chant of “lock her up” over Clinton’s use of a private email server.

“He would not give the benefit of a fair legal process to anybody else but he gets the benefit of fair legal process,” Kaine said.

During the convention, Flynn had said, “We do not need a reckless president who believes she is above the law.”

“If I did a tenth of what she did, I would be in jail today,” he added.

Video of Flynn joining the chant resurfaced after Flynn was charged Friday with “willfully and knowingly” making “false, fictitious and fraudulent” statements to the FBI about conversations with the Russian ambassador.

Flynn is expected to plead guilty Friday.
