Bristol Palin Gives Birth to Baby Boy: Reports

Bristol Palin, daughter of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), has given birth to the child who roiled the presidential campaign shortly after Palin was chosen as Sen. John McCain’s (R) running mate.

The baby, a boy weighing 7 pounds, 4 ounces according to People magazine, was named Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston.

The father, Levi Johnston, is a former high school hockey player who’s said he intends to marry Bristol Palin.

Gov. Palin had announced that her daughter was pregnant on the first day of the Republican National Convention, a revelation that had raised questions about how well McCain’s campaigns had vetted Palin and her family.
