More than $30K raised for woman fired for flipping off Trump motorcade
A crowdfunding campaign for the woman who lost her job after flipping off President Trump’s motorcade has raised over $30,000.
The GoFundMe campaign, titled “Thank You Juli Briskman,” has raised more than $30,000 for the former government contractor in its first three days.
“Juli Briskman is an inspiration to us all. This week we learned that she was fired from her employer for exercising her first amendment rights,” the campaign reads. “You can show your support by donating here.”
Nearly 1,500 people have donated to the campaign.
{mosads}Briskman was fired from her job at government contractor Akima LLC after she was photographed flipping off Trump’s motorcade as Trump left his golf course in Sterling, Va.
In an interview with The Huffington Post, Briskman said her bosses told her she violated the company’s social media policy because she used the photo as her profile picture.
“They said, ‘We’re separating from you,'” Briskman said.
“Basically, you cannot have ‘lewd’ or ‘obscene’ things on your social media. So they were calling flipping him off ‘obscene.’”
She told the Huffington Post when she saw Trump’s motorcade come up next to her, her “blood just started to boil.”
“I’m thinking, DACA recipients are getting kicked out. He pulled ads for open enrollment in ObamaCare,” Briskman said.
“Only one-third of Puerto Rico has power. I’m thinking, he’s at the damn golf course again.”
She said she doesn’t regret flipping off the motorcade.
“I’m angry about where our country is right now. I am appalled,” she told The Huffington Post. “This was an opportunity for me to say something.”
