Dems hold significant advantage among Gen. Yers and Boomers
More voters in their 20s, or ‘Generation Y,’ and in their 40s and 50s, or ‘Baby Boomers,’ self identify as Democrats than Republican by large margins, according to a new poll released Friday.
The Gallup Poll found that more voters identify as a Democrat than a Republican across all age groups. Among Gen. Yers and Boomers, though, the difference is the most significant.
Here’s how party identification broke down by party.
Republicans do the best among voters in their late 30s and early 40s – ‘Generation X’ – and seniors in their late 60s and upward.
This isn’t too surprising, considering the coalition President Obama built to get elected relied heavily on these groups.
There was a margin of error of about plus or minus 1 percent in the poll.
