RNC to meet in San Diego

The Republican National Committee will host its semiannual meeting in San Diego, the committee informed its members Thursday morning.

The Summer meeting, chairman Michael Steele’s first atop the national GOP, will happen July 29-31, according to an email from the RNC’s member services division.

One person on the email list took note of the location, a short drive from California Republican Party chairman Ron Nehring’s El Cajon home. Nehring, who is chairman of the association of state chairmen, is a rising star in committee circles, and many think he has a future on the national stage.

Indications that Nehring’s future in the party may be closer than anyone’s willing to admit?
