Dozens of players, coaches and team officials across the NFL have joined in kneeling during the anthem Sunday after President Trump on Friday attacked players who do not stand during the anthem.
Most of the Pittsburgh Steelers remained in the locker room as the anthem was played at their game, and the Jacksonville Jaguars players were joined by their owner, Shad Khan, on the field as they knelt and linked arms before their game.
Trump has faced criticism after calling on NFL owners to fire players who kneel, rather than stand, during the national anthem.
“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. He is fired’ ” Trump said.
