It seems Michael Steele isn’t the only Republican embroiled in a perpetual GOP dustup: The brouhaha between Meghan McCain and conservative commentators has escalated, providing Steele and Limbaugh with distractions from their usual headline-making. I had to think long and hard about how this McCain drama started as the counterpunches grew fast and furious, but then remembered that she had slammed Ann Coulter in a Daily Beast post: “Everything about her is extreme: her voice, her interview tactics, and especially the public statements she makes about liberalsm” the senator’s daughter wrote. “Maybe her popularity stems from the fact that watching her is sometimes like watching a train wreck.”
Laura Ingraham kept the catfight going by treading on dangerous ground: mocking another woman’s weight. The talk-show host called McCain, who has fluctuated between a size 8 and a size 10, “plus-size” in mid-mock. Meghan whipped out the McCain temper and fired back on “The View”:
In a Twitterview interview with George Stephanopolous today, McCain Tweeted “I’m proud of my daughter and she has a right to her opinions” when asked about the feud.
