President Trump on Saturday morning tweeted “happy Canada Day” to “the great people of Canada” and his “new found friend” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Trump and Trudeau have been very complimentary of one another, particularly following the Group of Seven meeting in May.

Trudeau praised Trump for his ability to listen, saying that the president isn’t a typical politician that has a “deep-vested interest in being right all the time.”
However, The New York Times also reported that Trudeau has a “war room” of “America whisperers” designed in part to find ways to work around Trump.
Trump has previously often referred to Trudeau as “Justin from Canada,” sparking memes online.
Saturday is the 150th anniversary of Canada’s confederation. Trudeau acknowledged the celebration on Twitter Saturday morning, as well.
In the video, he specifically emphasized Canada’s commitment to fighting climate change, one of the most significant policy differences between himself and Trump. Trump recently announced his decision to leave the Paris climate change agreement, which made Trudeau, he said at the time, “deeply disappointed.”
