Ariana Grande concert raised $3.5M for Manchester charity

Pop singer Ariana Grande’s “One Love Manchester” benefit concert raised $3.49 million for a fund helping those hurt by last month’s terror attack in Manchester, England.

The Red Cross in a statement Monday said that nearly $13 million has been raised for the “We Love Manchester Emergency Fund” since a suicide bombing at the end of Grande’s May 22 show in the city.

“The funds raised for the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund, launched by Manchester City Council and British Red Cross and supported by Manchester Evening News, will help people who have been injured or bereaved as a result of the attack at the Manchester Arena,” it said, according to ABC News.

{mosads}The Red Cross said Sunday’s concert headlined by Grande was shown in 50 nations and streamed via Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The star-studded gig also included performances from other musicians such as Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams and Justin Bieber.

“I think that the kind of love and unity we’re displaying is the kind of medicine we need in the world,” Grande said.

“Let the world hear your resilience,” Williams told listeners. “Despite all the things that have been going on … I don’t feel or smell or hear or see any fear in this building.”

The concert occurred one day after a terror attack in London killed at least seven people and injured at least 48 others.

The bombing after Grande’s May 22 performance in Manchester killed at least 22 people and wounded almost 60 more.
