‘West Wing’ star: $200M ‘disinformation campaign’ launched against EFCA

Bradley Whitford, the actor that played Deputy Chief of Staff Josh Lyman in the “West Wing” television drama, said Tuesday that corporations are spending millions in an inaccurate campaign to drum up opposition to the Employee Free Choice Act.

Whitford, along with some of his co-stars on the “West Wing,” was on Capitol Hill Tuesday to bolster support of the measure.

Appearing on MSNBC just now, Whitford said that a “$200 million disinformation campaign” is being launched against the bill.

He also said that the legislation is pivotal to fostering a strong labor movement in the country.

“I believe that a strong labor movement is a necessary, not only to protect works rights but to give us a strong economy that works for everyone,” Whitford said.

Whitford also said the joining a union is a “fundamental right” in the U.S.

“I think it comes down to a very fundamental right: to join a union in this country,” he said. “We all have the right to join a union.”
